VP Debate

Tonight's debate between Vice President Cheney and Senator Edwards was a sit-down affair. In fact, I sat down to watch it.

The best moments were the uneasy moments. Dick Cheney simply thanking John Edwards for acknowledging his openness about his daughter's homosexuality rather than giving a 30 second response. John Edwards twice using John Kerry's name when asked by the moderator not to do so, then laughing about it.

Both gentlemen accused the other of skewing the facts, leaving the audience wondering what the facts really are...and just how to go about securing the truth.

The issues debated were the usual slate of Iraq, health care, education, jobs, and so on.

At the end of the debate, each candidate was met on stage by his wife and family. A lot of smiles and hand shakes...what I came to know in the US Army as "grip and grin" time.

In a way it took me back to my early high school days on the debate team...hacking out a successful debate using a pencil, a tablet of paper, and my own best wits.

Overall I saw it as an even debate with no clear dominant winner. Good face time for both Cheney and Edwards. In fact, good waist-up time.

And I took it all sitting down...or rather lying down on my loveseat.

The debates JUST finished. I just finished watching them and you ALREADY have a blog about it?

I took it all lying down on the floor actually.
