Passion of McDonald's
Not one to stop at Fahrenheit 911 in my quest to view the controversial films of the past year, I've now seen The Passion Of The Christ and Super Size Me. I recommend both films, however Passion is obviously a well-known story, at least among most folks raised in a predominantly Christian part of the world, so it's unlikely to put forth any unknown information. Super Size Me, however, brings to light the health concerns of American fast food franchises, namely McDonald's and takes time to also call into question the health risks associated with school lunch programs. The film also points out how the US government is pressured by the big money food companies. Watching what a McDonald's-only diet does to the guy in the film...well, just watch it and see. Oh, and the link between the two films? Little kids interviewed in Super Size Me were unable to identify a painting of Jesus (one kid thought it was George W. Bush!) but all of them readily IDed a picture of their beloved Ronald McDonald.
