San Pedro River: Gear Check

Today was the debut of my latest attempt to put together a functional photography-on-the-go outfit for hiking. The gear consists of a several year old Camelbak Mule hydration pack with pockets, two old Army pouches, and the foam neck strap. The belt of the hydration pack holds the bottom of the camera in place against my belly which keeps it from swinging when I walk or climb up hills or over logs. The pouches hold my digital camera, binoculars, wide angle lens, and film. The hydration pack pockets contain first aid kit, hooded windbreaker, lens cleaning paper, sunscreen...and, of course, cold water. The test run went well so this will be my standard set up for the foreseeable future. As George Peppard (aka Hannibal) of the A Team used to say: "I love it when a plan comes together!" Oh, all photos today were on 35mm film, so I'll post them once I get the film developed and scanned.
