Concert
Last night's concert in Phoenix was well worth the admission. Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Jack Johnson, and CSN (Crosby, Stills, and Nash) was phenomenal. Though we worried that Crosby or Stills might have a coronary, they put on a high-energy show. Being a guitar lover, I really enjoyed bonnie, jack, graham (nash), and CSN's "Goliath" guitar player...all of whom qualify as top notch six string masters. While the concert was dubbed "Vote For Change" it was hardly a mouth-frothing anti-Bush fest, but rather a very professional and solid musical show that carried the theme of getting out to vote. The funniest thing I saw were two guys outside the pavilion, dressed to the nines, and carrying between them an enormous banner that read: "Billionaires For Bush". The height of sarcastic cynical political commentary and it made me smile. Security was tight and more than one stoned tie-dyed fifty-something was asked to move on as they were blocking the view of the rest of us. The security guys have headsets and the guy next to me said "Leave 'em alone, you Nazi!" in between hits on the ten or so joints he smoked during the performance. It is said that "it takes all kinds to make the world go round"...well, we had all kinds at the show last night, though no Republicans were admitting their true colors, that's for sure! At any rate, I was yet again inspired to go home, dust off my guitars, pull a tumbler out of the kitchen cabinet, and try to outdo bonnie raitt.
