I realized I hadn't written anything on this blog for a couple months. Fact is, I realized it several times during those couple months...I just didn't do anything about it until now. Apparently there are no deadlines in blog publishing.
The black walnut tree in my front yard was full of green leaves last time I published a post here. Since that time, the leaves turned gold and fell off. The tree is almost entirely bare now. Temperatures have nipped at the freezing mark just before dawn a few times in the past two weeks, while the afternoons are up in the low sixties. I hear up in my home state of Montana, there are a lot of temperatures with something called a "minus sign" in front of them.
My most recent triumph over the long list of "things that confound me" was the successful installation of a driver side interior door handle on my car. The handle, bid on and won on Ebay.com, vexed me a bit because the interior door panel didn't seem to like my idea of its removal in order to remove the broken door handle and install the new door handle. Sometimes a bit of prying with a crowbar, shining of light with a flashlight, and a variety of screwdrivers and body positions...coupled with sheer brute force...can yield a positive result. Liquid dish soap and black smudges on my face notwithstanding, I not only installed a functioning door handle and lock, but learned a bit about the guts of a door made 15 years ago by Honda. Though my car is supposedly but a teenager, it is showing signs of premature aging. However, I refuse to give in and let this vehicle fall to pieces.
You may have noticed I finally put my lifetime of photography to some blatantly capitalistic use, or should I say I made my photographic artwork available to everyone? This fall I launched Dr Fizzics Digital Depot, a website featuring my photography directly printed onto various items, from mugs to T-shirts, teddy bears to ceramic tiles. I invite you to take a look at www.cafepress.com/drfizzics. It is a good feeling to finally have my best photos out for the world to enjoy. Orders are already rolling in from all sorts of people around the country, so apparently I'm on to something worthwhile. I am putting up new photos daily, so check back regularly for the latest images.
