Phoenix May Be Too Hot
Phoenix in May...about the last time you can get in and out without seeing 100 degrees on the thermometer. I had a great trip up there last weekend to visit friends. I came back home toting some plant cuttings/starts. A green start to the season. Of course yesterday was Mothers Day, so I called Mom and talked for an hour or so. I also watched a great Japanese film from 1952 about a man who changes his life and the lives of those around him after discovering he has terminal stomach cancer. Of course this film was especially intriguing to me after going through that period of life with my own father last year. There are some very brilliant foreign (and older) films out there. My suggestion is don't just rely on the blockbusters in theaters now, but rent old movies that are remasterd on DVD and you will learn a great deal about life. On that note, I should tell you that I saw "Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy" at the theater on Saturday. I'd forgotten how bizarre Douglas Adams book was; nonetheless, it is a great story and a great look at the scope of life and our place in the cosmos. Besides, one of the main characters is named "Ford". :)
