Today I'm memorializing all those who have died as a result of war: the families, the little girls on bicycles, the mothers in the markets, the folks busy at work, the aid workers, and all the others...and soldiers on both sides of any war...who died or had loved ones die. That's memorial day to me...and it is a very very sad day.
Someday world leaders will realize that they get the world nowhere by using violence. Be it Lucifer to Satan or Anakin Skywalker to Darth Vader, the myths describe the same repeated occurrence: good people tempted by the lure of power through violence. Age old concept that has yet to be overcome for the good of all.
I spent my time on the Dark Side, as a warrior and war profiteer. It took seeing people die violently in front of me to shake me out of that life entirely. It is seductive, the money and the power and the thrill. It plays to our inner destructors and sick egos.
I hope that anyone who is tempted to somehow justify killing and injuring anyone for any reason has a moment that brings them back to being caring, loving, and peaceful.
