I'm reading a book about the Beat movement, called BEAT SPIRIT. The book is an interesting combo of workbook and history and commentary on the major Beats: Burroughs, Ginsberg, and Kerouac. A friend of mine gave me this book as a gift, along with BIG SKY MIND, back in 1998 with the idea being that I apparently appear to be a Beat of sorts and that I would enjoy reading about the beat concept. I'm inclined to agree.
