The past week was interesting.
I discovered a dead scorpion on the tile just inside my front door, apparently the victim of my thankfully booted foot during an early morning walk down the street to shoot sunrise photos. This is, believe it or not, the first scorpion I have seen live (or recently alive) in five years of desert living. It is pre-spring now with quite a bit of rain and warm weather so the creepy-crawlies are waking up and going out and about.
Speaking of photos, I've finally finished shooting up my last two rolls of 35mm film. My intent is to migrate to digital photography now. My plan is to sell my various 35mm cameras and consolidate my bulky and unwieldly photo operation down to a manageable size. Of course another part of this migration involved scanning all the thousands of prints I have, both those I've shot myself and those other folks have given me. Step One in this project is done; this took up the dining room floor and a few hours of sorting and labeling photo packages of prints and negatives, then arranging them by year.
There was no city league soccer game last Sunday...fine with me since my knee was not yet healed from the previous Sunday's foray into the painful side of the game. Thankfully the scabs are almost gone and by this coming Sunday's game, I should be fine.
Today, perhaps in honor of my partial Irish heritage, I watched U2's Rattle and Hum DVD. A unique and powerful band. I know a number of people, mostly female, who are enjoying their recent single, "Vertigo", while driving around Phoenix. Yes, I get into the music too, firing up the amp and processor and strapping on the Fender Strat and doing my best to follow along as The Edge does his thing. Guitar players, you know what I'm talking about...the rest of you, let's just say there's something electric about it.
Oh, and I could have sworn U2 wrote that song "Sunday, Bloody Sunday" about my knee.
